Each month we hear and read about more school campus tragedies. These may be on college campuses, high schools or even elementary schools. No school is immune to the nightmares of lockdowns caused by those possibly seeking to do harm. School bell systems are one of the more important tools used in school communication solutions. Today’s school intercom has more options and is not just a speaker in a hallway. Here are some of the trends today.

Punch Alert

This application is designed for schools, but can be used on other applications as well. Punch Alert is an application on your smart phone. You can think of it as real time emergency notification. The app allows you to alert emergency responders with one push. Check out the video below to learn more.

Punch Alert recently finished its integration with ShoreTel solutions, allowing it to be a part of school intercom and communication solutions.

Class Connection

A traditional school intercom system with the technology of today, the Class Connection solution uses the speakers and classrooms for intercom. You can set up bell schedules and special alerts for your classrooms. There’s the ability to have special messages for fire alarms and other emergencies. Class Connections is an IP based system, so it can be easily managed by anyone with network rights and access.

Syn-App

This school intercom product works with ShoreTel phones to allow for easy mass notifications. The Syn-App product is designed to work with legacy/analog speakers. This means the schools don’t have to re-use the older speakers and horns and don’t have to pay the costs of re-cabling. There are bell schedules and announcements available. This product can be used at schools and industries where mass communication is critical.

These three options for enhancing school intercom systems are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the availability of options for schools and security today. The changing of technology to IP, and networking schools together, give more and more options each year.
